  • Make prompt initial treatment; the majority of people with lifetime mental disorders eventually seek treatment if the disorder persists. As a result, most cases become irreversible.
  • Increase knowledge about the disorder: read informative materials and join support groups to gain a better understanding of a person with the disorder.
  • Show support and care to such individuals for it is the best way to help them with their condition.
  • Divert attention from impulses
  • See your physician or therapist on a regular basis; skipping therapeutic sessions may cause interruptions of the healing process.
  • Take medication regularly.
