Amnestic disorder can be a preventable disorder when the possible causes are highly avoidable such as exposure to toxic substances. It is important to avoid possible exposure to toxins such as environmental contaminants. Avoid alcohol and substance abuse. Head trauma can also be prevented by wearing a helmet when driving a motorcycle or wearing a seat belt when driving; since automobile accidents have higher incidence to cause head injuries. It is also vital to consult a physician immediately for any signs of frequent memory loss or signs of disorientation and confusion. Healthy lifestyle and living are also vital factors that can contribute to a healthy memory status.
